Our Mission

Incorporated in 2000, Free Agent Professionals (FAP) provides a
convenient and cost-effective method of administering independent
contracting professionals, i.e., free agents, to both the businesses
receiving their services, as well as the independent contracting
professionals providing the services.  

For businesses, our services protect you from compliance risk related
to independent contractors.  FAP becomes the employer of record, and
we handle all payroll taxes and employee benefits.

For the independent contracting professional, we offer extremely
competitive rates that keep your net pay as high as possible.  We also
offer employee benefits, as well as provide a professional
"home-base", in which you can be part of a team while at the same
time maintain the level of autonomy and independence you choose.

Larry has almost 20 years of experience in the business world.  He
started his career in Public Accounting with one of the then "Big 8",
Ernst & Whinney, which is now Ernst & Young.  After seven years with
E&Y in both San Francisco, California and Düsseldorf, Germany, Larry
left Public Accounting to pursue private consulting.

He has consulted in may different areas of Finance and Accounting, in
several parts of the world and across several industries, including Life
Sciences, Telecommunications and Wholesale Trade.  

During his consulting career, he encountered several clients that
requested he use an agency to bill for his services so that they could
avoid the compliance issues related to the classification of employee
versus independent contractor.

While seeking out agencies to perform his billing and pay him as a
W-2 employee, he discovered that the fee structures of most agencies
were set up for placement services and were not at all flexible to
handle the relatively straight-forward process of providing an
"Employer of Record" service for independent contract professionals
who have their own clients.  

He found it disturbing that some agencies would take 30-40% of the
gross billing, citing their direct costs as the main driver.  Knowing that
the direct costs are really more like 12-15%, Larry decided to found an
agency that catered specifically to these independent "Free Agents",
and founded Free Agent Professionals Inc.

It is his hope that FAP can become a corporate "home" for many free
agents out there, providing Employer of Record services under a fee
structure that is completely open, while also providing a corporate
identity by issuing business cards, providing an e-mail account and
giving general assistance in finding new projects.
